CAUSTIC SODA

Caustic soda, also known as sodium hydroxide (NaOH), is a highly alkaline and reactive compound commonly used in the production of soap, cleansers, and other skincare formulations. It is a strong base that plays a crucial role in the saponification process, which is the chemical reaction that turns oils and fats into soap.

Although caustic soda in its pure form is highly corrosive and can cause skin irritation, when properly used in soap-making and cosmetic formulations, it helps create gentle, skin-safe cleansing products. Once fully processed in soap, no active caustic soda remains, making it safe for use on the skin.

Sodium hydroxide is a key ingredient in the saponification of oils and butters, which results in the formation of soap and glycerin. This process creates effective, pH-balanced cleansers that remove dirt, oil, and bacteria from the skin.
