Koji Acid is a mild inhibitor of the formation of pigment in plant and animal tissues, and is used in food and cosmetics to preserve or change colors of substances.
Kojic acid, which is naturally produced by some fungi and is a byproduct of the fermentation of rice, fights areas of concern like sun-spots and acne scars. It works by interfering with one of the proteins required for the skin to produce excess melanin.
