Pure carrot essential oil is a highly aromatic, golden-hued volatile oil extracted from the dried seeds of the Daucus carota plant, commonly known as wild carrot or Queen Anne’s Lace. This essential oil is obtained through steam distillation, and should not be confused with carrot seed oil (carrier oil) or carrot root-infused oil, which are fatty, non-volatile oils used for nourishment. Pure carrot essential oil is prized in aromatherapy and high-performance skincare for its potent concentration of carotol, along with beta-caryophyllene, daucol, alpha-pinene, and other terpene compounds that contribute to its deeply earthy, herbaceous scent and therapeutic properties.
