Orange hydrosol, also known as orange flower water or neroli hydrosol (if sourced from the blossoms of the orange tree), is a natural byproduct of the steam distillation process used to extract essential oils from the fruit peel, flowers, or leaves of the orange tree (Citrus sinensis). During this process, steam extracts the essential oils from the plant material, and when the steam cools down, it condenses into a water-based solution containing aromatic compounds and beneficial plant properties—this is the hydrosol.
Orange hydrosol has a mild, refreshing, and subtly sweet citrus scent. It is often used in skincare, haircare, and aromatherapy for its uplifting and soothing properties. Unlike essential oils, hydrosols are much gentler and can be applied directly to the skin without the need for dilution, making them ideal for people with sensitive skin.
Orange hydrosol is packed with nutrients such as vitamin C, antioxidants, and flavonoids that can benefit the skin, promote overall well-being, and add a refreshing touch to cosmetic formulations.
